WM Program Guide Transmitter Help

The WM Program Guide Transmitter sends WM program guide information to VBrick StreamPlayers and to VBrick Media Control Servers.  The program allows you to advertise both live and stored VBrick WM video to desktops equipped with StreamPlayer.

The program automatically generates a Program Guide, and can generate a live "playlist" that may contain up to three live or stored videos.

Setup and Operation

Launch the application and enter the Program Title, Playlist Title, the maximum video bit rate in Kbps, the Author and Copyright.  Enter the video URL.  The URL must be any valid WM URL such as "http://VBrickIP:Port/vbrickvideo1" or the URL of a video file located on a streaming server or web server, such as "http://vbrick.net/video/streamingbasics.asx".  If you wish the video to repeat continuously, check "Repeat".

Press "Start" to begin transmitting the Program Guide.  It will appear on all StreamPlayer viewers connected to your network.  It will appear in the included Program Guide, where you can double-click to view (this Program Guide only displays WM video).

Playlist

You may create a "playlist" such that your Program Guide will play up to three live or stored videos.  Select "Playlist" and the playlist dialog will appear:

Enter the Title, Author, Copyright, URL, and the duration and press "Add" to add it to the list.  You may change an entry using the "Modify" button, delete it with the "Delete" button, and move it up or down the playlist.  If you want your playlist to repeat, select "Repeat Playlist".

Notes:

• Duration format is hh:mm:ss, or if you want the full duration of a stored video file, enter "full"
• If you are sending a program guide of a live VBrick video, you might disable the automatic program guide issued by the VBrick appliance
• VBrick multicast URL is: http://VBrickWMApplianceIP[:port]/vbs1multi.nsc
• You may save your playlist, and retrieve it later
• Select "Configure" to change the Program Guide settings
• If your network does not well support multicast, you can change the configuration so that the Program Guide is broadcast (set the IP address to 255.255.255.255 in both the program and the StreamPlayer).  Note that the Program Guide announcement is very small, and that it is typically announcing a non-multicast video source.
