Applications:

How It Works

Video Signage consists of two programs: a generator, and a client viewer.

Key Features

Simply connect your PC, laptop, or a low-cost computer to your large screen monitor, projector, plasma or LCD display and instantly delivery video signage anywhere.

Generator

  1. Enter your web server host name or IP address, username, password, and Remote Directory.  IMPORTANT: Your ftp server must be set up for the necessary FTP account, and the remote directory (e.g. "videosignage" or similar) must exist.
  2. Browse to any WM, MPEG-1, MPEG-2, MPEG-4 video, or JPEG image  file.  For best results, use WM video file time (some PC clients may have trouble with MPEG)
  3. Be sure the type is displayed correctly.  If not, change it.
  4. If you intend for the entire video file to be shown, leave the default "FULL" for the duration.  Alternately, you may enter a duration in the form h:mm:ss.
  5. You do not need to upload files already on your server.  Select "View Video Files On Server" to see what is already there.  If it is already there you may drag-and-drop it to the file file entry box and select NO for upload.  Otherwise, select YES.
  6. Press "Add" and repeat the procedure to add any number of additional files.
  7. To display live video (WM only), enter the live video URL (e.g. http://VBrickIp:8080/vbrickvideo1)  IMPORTANT: For live video, you MUST set the duration or else the live video will play forever.  Also be sure to select a duration for any image file.
  8. To display stored video from a WM server, enter the URL (e.g. http://WMServerIP/publishingPoint/file.wmv")
  9. Set the Scheduled Update date/time.  This is how you instruct the clients when they should retrieve your schedule from your web server.
  10. Select "Upload" when done.  This may take minutes or hours, depending on the size of your files and the network bandwidth between you and your server.
  11. Modify any entry by clicking on it.  Enter new data/changes and press "Modify".

Video Signage Client

  1. Enter the server host name or IP address, username, password, and Remote Directory.  This may be the same setting as used in the generator, or may be a different account with read-only FTP privilege.
  2. Enter the Poll Interval.  This is sets how often the client will check the server for updated video sign information.  If you plan to update signs only once a day, enter a large number (hint: there are 86400 seconds per day).  The enquire made to your server is typically small, 1 Kbytes, and polling every 3600 hours is a reasonable setting.
  3. Check "Enable" to tell the client to check for updates every Poll Interval.
  4. Select "Update Now" to cause the client to retrieve the current information from the web server.
  5. A video window will appear on your computer.  This "preview" windows is not adjustable and is used to preview your video sign. When you are ready to run your video sign, select "Full Screen".  In Full Screen mode, the client is still monitoring your server and will stop the player, download the new video sign files, and play the new video sign after it is fully downloaded.
  6. The status displays the current time, the date/time of the last update, and the date/time of the next update.  If there is no update on the server, the last update and the next update will display the same information.

Try it now!

You cannot upload to our server, but you can use the client to get video signage content.  Simply set the Video Signage Client as follows:

Host/IP:  vbpresenter.com

Username: videosign

Password: videosign

Rmt Dir: (leave blank)

The files are large and could take many minutes for the video to start...be patent. CAUTION: the video files on the server may include High Definition video files. Your PC should be at least 1GHz with modern display adapter to handle this.  The content on the server may change regularly.
